The first week of voluntary basic military service passed with introductory training, learning the daily routine and regulations. There were plenty of theoretical classes, such as map reading, tactics, shooting training and civic education. In their free time, the trainees attended film screenings and played football, volleyball and chess.

They have also already taken their physical education exam, during which they could test their strength by doing pull-ups, push-ups and a three-kilometre run.

The past week involved an introduction to practical activities, including engineer and sappers’ training, tactics, map reading and basic survival skills. As the deputy company commander, Second Lieutenant Grzegorz Słomiński, said:

For a soldier to develop the right habits and be able to act effectively on the battlefield, time is needed—experience comes with time. It is also important to increase the level of difficulty gradually: first performing the individual elements and then coordinating them as a whole.
