– An 89-year-old resident of Bolesławiec received a phone call. The person claiming to be her niece said that she had caused an accident and urgently needed cash for bail – reports staff aspirant Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters. – The elderly woman believed the story presented to her and, thinking that she was helping a family member, agreed to hand over the money.
The senior followed all the instructions she heard over the phone from the alleged lawyer of her niece. A man wearing a face mask came to collect the money. The result? The woman lost her savings.
