For several weeks, we have been observing rising petrol prices. In May, we reported that the price of petrol had equalled the price of diesel fuel. At the time, fuel-market analysts forecast a rise in the price of precisely this fuel. We are now indeed seeing this, and paying more and more. The price of petrol is rising faster than the price of diesel fuel. On 1 June, petrol at stations in Bolesławiec was 30–40 groszy more expensive than diesel. Diesel fuel at the PKN Orlen station on Aleja Tysiąclecia costs PLN 7.23 per litre today.
Meanwhile, the price of a barrel of crude oil exceeded 120 dollars on 31 May. This happened after another package of sanctions against Russia was announced, including sanctions on Russian oil. Today, 1 June, a barrel of crude oil costs 117 dollars. On Thursday, 3 June, a meeting of oil producers belonging to OPEC+ will take place. The meeting will concern supplies of this raw material in July. As the Bankier.pl service reports, an increase in raw-material supplies of approximately 430,000 barrels per day can be expected.
Will this slow the rise in fuel prices? What impact will it have on Orlen’s pricing policy? We will live and see.
