On 14 May, firefighters of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec organized the county celebrations of Firefighters’ Day. The Bolesławiec uniformed officers: – The ceremony began with a Mass held for firefighters and chimney sweeps on the occasion of the feast of St Florian at the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Nicholas in Bolesławiec. This was followed by a ceremonial assembly in the cinema hall of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre, attended at the invitation of County Fire Service Commander Brig. Andrzej Śliwowski by, among others, the Head of the Department of the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wrocław, Senior Brig. Rafał Lik, Member of the Sejm Szymon Pogoda, Bolesławiec County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak, Mayor of Bolesławiec Piotr Roman, Mayor of Nowogrodziec Robert Relich, Head of Warta Bolesławiecka Municipality Mirosław Haniszewski, Rector of the Bolesławiec Basilica, Rev. Prelate Andrzej Jarosiewicz and many other distinguished guests.
During the ceremony, two silver and two bronze “Meritorious for Fire Protection” badges, awarded by the Minister of the Interior and Administration, were presented. Firefighters also received promotions to higher service ranks: 3 in the warrant officer corps, 9 non-commissioned officers and 2 enlisted personnel.
Additionally, in connection with the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the State Fire Service, the County Fire Service Commander in Bolesławiec decided to honor a group of distinguished people with a commemorative “30th Anniversary of the State Fire Service” medal. Those honored included:
- firefighters with 30 years of service,
- former district and county State Fire Service commanders from Bolesławiec,
- the county head,
- the mayor,
- the mayor and heads of municipalities,
- and heads of units that distinguished themselves through many years of cooperation with the State Fire Service.
A multimedia presentation on the operation of the district command and subsequently the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec was also shown.
At the end of the ceremony, the invited guests delivered speeches and conveyed their wishes to professional firefighters and volunteer firefighters.
The firefighters also presented State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Service vehicles and equipment at Piłsudski Square in Bolesławiec. The Bolesławiec County State Fire Service Headquarters:
Modern and historic fire engines were put on display, demonstrations of work at heights were held, and instruction was provided on qualified first aid. Part of the exhibition from the Firefighting Museum in Oseredek (Lublin Voivodeship) was also presented.
