The incident occurred overnight from May 17 to 18 on the A4 motorway. Volunteer firefighters from Krzyżowa:
(...) at 1:19 a.m. we were dispatched to a passenger car which, on the A4 at kilometer 51 in the direction of Zgorzelec, crashed into barriers and caught fire.
They added:
After our unit arrived at the scene, we confirmed the report and began operations.
One person was traveling in the car and got out under their own power before the first units arrived. Fortunately, the person traveling in the car was unharmed.
The fire was extinguished. Firefighters from Krzyżowa, Różyniec and Bolesławiec took part in the operation.
