Officers from the Border Guard Post in Jelenia Góra, after searching a delivery van as well as utility rooms and residential buildings located in one of the towns in Dzierżoniów County, seized nearly 1.7 million cigarettes without Polish excise tax stamps.

They also secured 82.5 liters of spirits of unknown origin and 65 kilograms of tobacco, as well as the van used in the criminal activity. – Officers found four sets of license plates in its cabin, while those attached to it belonged to another vehicle – reports Major of the Border Guard Joanna Konieczniak, press spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit. The entire shipment seized, without excise tax stamps, is worth more than PLN 1.3 million.

Three Polish men present on the property in question were also detained. The spokesperson says:

The men, aged 33 to 41, admitted to the charge of committing a fiscal criminal offense involving the storage, transport or shipment of excise goods without excise tax stamps.

The detainees could face prison sentences. Major of the Border Guard J. Konieczniak: – This is yet another success for the Border Guard officers from the Jelenia Góra post. Over the past two weeks, they have seized goods worth PLN 2.5 million from criminals, without Polish excise tax stamps.
