Bolesławiec judges, prosecutors and police officers agreed that it was necessary to apply pre-trial detention as a preventive measure against two men who had perpetrated psychological and physical violence against their loved ones.
The 60-year-old was detained in the Nowogrodziec municipality. For two years, the man had physically and psychologically abused his partner and teenage children. He intimidated them, threatened them, grabbed, pushed and hit them.
The second suspect was detained in the Osiecznica municipality during a domestic intervention. The 62-year-old attacked his wife verbally and through physical violence.
Both detainees were remanded in custody for three months.
Physical or psychological abuse of a close family member is punishable by up to 5 years’ imprisonment. Anyone who physically or psychologically abuses a helpless person because of their age is liable to imprisonment for up to 8 years.
