On Saturday, at noon, the court made its decision. The 33-year-old, who shot a police officer on Thursday, causing fatal injuries, will spend the next three months in pre-trial detention.

On Friday, the man was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec. The prosecutor’s office charged him, among other things, with attempted murder of a police officer, causing serious bodily harm, active assault on a police officer and illegal possession of a firearm. The 33-year-old admitted to the alleged crimes and gave an explanation.

As reported by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, the suspect had previously been convicted several times in Germany. In 2024, he was sentenced by a court in Bautzen, among other things, for an offense related to the illegal export or import of firearms, their parts and ammunition. For the acts currently alleged against the 33-year-old, he faces a sentence ranging from 15 years’ imprisonment to life imprisonment.

The dramatic events took place on Thursday, September 24, at around 11:00 a.m. on a property in Kraśnik Górny. Police officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters were carrying out activities there in connection with information about items that might have come from a theft.

During the operation, a 33-year-old man returned to the property. According to the prosecutor’s findings, he fired a shot from a Browning HP 9 mm semiautomatic pistol at a police officer. Natan Sieroń, a police officer with the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, was shot in the head. Despite a swift rescue operation, he died in hospital. Since September 1, the officer had served in the criminal division of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters.
