On Thursday, Paweł Wróblewski, Marshal of Lower Silesia, and Petr Skokan, Governor of the Liberec Region, discussed cooperation. Following the meeting at the town hall, the governor and the marshal attended the ceremonial opening of Primary School No. 1.
The Czech guests were welcomed on behalf of the city authorities and residents by Mayor Piotr Roman. Bolesławiec was chosen as the meeting place for a reason. Petr Skokan, now Governor of the Liberec Region, was until recently the mayor of Česká Lípa, Bolesławiec’s twin city. In addition to the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the Governor of the Liberec Region, the meeting was attended, among others, by the Consul General of the Czech Republic and the mayor of Česká Lípa.
Cooperation between Lower Silesia and the Liberec Region dates back to early 2003. At that time, an agreement on cooperation between the two regions was signed. At the marshal’s invitation, Liberec Technical University presented itself at the TARED 2004 educational fair in Wrocław. Last year, an employee of the Liberec Regional Authority completed an internship at the Lower Silesian Regional Office in Brussels. Contacts were also established between the Tourism and Sport Committee of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Assembly and the Tourism Committee of the Liberec Region. Work is currently under way on a joint brochure promoting the border regions.
