On April 20, police knocked on the door of an apartment in Lwówek Śląski, where, according to their information, a wanted 29-year-old man was staying. – The information was confirmed, and the resident of Lwówek Śląski, who was wanted on the basis of an order for his apprehension issued by the District Court in Lwówek Śląski in order to serve a prison sentence for evading the obligation to pay child support, was arrested – explains Sergeant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the Lwówek police headquarters. – The 29-year-old left the apartment with the officers and will now spend the next seven months in prison.

The officers remind the public: – Under the provisions of the Criminal Code, anyone who evades fulfilling a child-support obligation specified as to its amount by a court ruling, a settlement concluded before a court or another authority, or another agreement, if the total amount of arrears resulting from this is equivalent to at least three periodic payments, or if the delay in a non-periodic payment in arrears is at least three months, is liable to a fine, a restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to one year.

They add:

If the perpetrator of the act described above exposes the entitled person to an inability to meet basic necessities of life, they are liable to a fine, a restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to two years.
