Officers from Bolesławiec and Nowogrodziec detained three people in connection with the burglary and theft of cable worth more than PLN 20,000. The incident took place at a mine in the Osiecznica commune.
Staff Aspirant Anna Kublik-Rościszewska: – Under cover of night, the 36-year-old and the 22-year-old broke into a warehouse and stole new cable nearly 100 metres long.
She adds: – The suspects cut their loot into pieces and packed it into a wheelbarrow, then transported it outside the company premises to a nearby grove, where they loaded everything into a car.
As it turned out, one of the burglars had once worked at the mine, so he knew the area very well.
After the raid, the thieves – together with their 23-year-old colleague – stripped the insulation from the stolen cable.
All three are residents of the Osiecznica commune. Two of them will face charges for burglary. (They face up to 10 years in prison.) The 23-year-old, meanwhile, is suspected of handling stolen goods and could therefore be imprisoned for up to five years.
