Volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
On 13 April 2022, after 4 p.m., we were dispatched to a grass fire on wasteland in Gierałtów. The fire was quickly extinguished with two water jets. On our way back from the intervention, we noticed heavy smoke over the forest—also in Gierałtów. We decided to investigate the source of the smoke. At the scene, we found a forest-litter fire covering an area of 70 ares. We began extinguishing it with two water jets, with the assistance of OSP Gierałtów. The operations lasted more than three hours in total.
Firefighters appeal:
STOP GRASS FIRES! Since the beginning of the year, we have already attended 20 fires involving grass, forests, trees and shrubs in the following locations:
- Nowogrodziec – 8
- Wykroty – 4
- Czerna – 2
- Gierałtów – 2
- Gmina Osiecznica – 2
- Parzyce – 1
- Godzieszów – 1.
The firefighters add: – For all interventions of this type, we set out in our 30-year-old Star 266. Help us act faster and more safely! This old fire engine is due to be replaced this year. We really need very little more for a modern rescue and firefighting vehicle to be stationed in our garage.
