Police officers recovered a Volkswagen that had been stolen from one of the car parks in Lubin and arrested a woman suspected of the theft. She is a 25-year-old resident of Lubin. The Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław:
The suspect was acquainted with the vehicle’s owner. She had borrowed his car numerous times until it broke down. After it malfunctioned, she locked the car and returned the keys.
However, after some time she noticed the vehicle in question on one of the streets. Since the owner was abroad, she decided to sell his Volkswagen.
But she did not have the car keys, so… she ordered a tow truck and asked for the vehicle to be taken to a repair shop. There, she lied to the staff, claiming that she was the owner of the VW but had unfortunately lost the keys. As soon as the car was opened, she took the documents from the glove compartment. She then sold property that was not hers to a man who did not know it was a scam.
The 25-year-old told the detectives that her difficult financial situation had forced her to commit the theft. The cunning thief now faces up to five years in prison.
