The whole story began at the end of January 2022. A 21-year-old resident of Bolesławiec took possession of a payment card and used it 15 times, all within just two days. On 14 occasions, the young man managed to break into the cardholder’s bank account. (He paid contactlessly.) The next attempt failed because the card had been blocked.
These were by no means the only offences committed by the 21-year-old. In mid-February, the Bolesławiec resident took possession of a backpack containing a laptop worth more than PLN 2,000. The computer was quickly sold at a pawn shop. (Officers recovered the misappropriated property.)
The young man from Bolesławiec was arrested. To make matters worse, officers found several dozen portions of marijuana in the suspect’s apartment.
The man admitted to the crime. He now faces up to 10 years in prison.
