31 March marks the end of the National Health Fund president’s order concerning the financing of COVID benefits. What does this mean? So-called COVID wards will cease to exist.

This does not mean, however, that patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 will be unable to seek help at the healthcare facility in Bolesławiec. It simply means that COVID-19 itself will be treated there like any other disease, like any other infection.

Is this the end of the pandemic?

Kamil Barczyk, director of the Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej in Bolesławiec, warns against excessive optimism:

The pandemic is not over; infections with the virus are still occurring on a large scale.

He adds, however, that since the number of hospitalizations is falling, it will no longer be necessary to separate entire structures exclusively for people infected with the coronavirus. As a result, the hospital in Bolesławiec faces considerable reorganization. The positive aspect is that, when it comes to treating patients, the so-called normal times are returning.
