Kinga Gęsicka-Biały went with the aid. As a representative of Polska 2050, she also had a personal goal: distributing stuffed toys to Ukrainian children at the reception point in Hrubieszów.
“We transported the aid as the Bolesławiec County community,” says Kinga Gęsicka-Biały. “During the night, we delivered three vans filled with kindness from our county. We handed them directly to the Ukrainian commander at the Dołhobyczów border crossing,” the volunteer explains.
Giving stuffed toys to children was a separate goal for Kinga, which is why she went to the border, and she announces that she will return there.
“It is terribly difficult at the border,” Kinga recounts. “The children are exhausted and terribly afraid. I was there at 2:00 a.m. They do not sleep. And when they do sleep, they are so alert that when I placed a stuffed toy beside one child, the child immediately sprang to their feet. I will not soon forget that ‘spasiba’ and the way the child hugged the toy,” Kinga reports.
