Bolesławiec municipality:
Regardless of whether the cycling season is underway, the residents use the cycle path running through our municipality all year round. Unfortunately, acts of vandalism and littering on the path continue. They not only make it more difficult to use, but also generate costs for necessary repairs and clean-up work.
Officials add:
We continually receive reports of damaged cycling infrastructure, stolen road signs and glass scattered along the route. Unfortunately, some people are unable to respect the shared space that not only the residents of our municipality, but also the entire county, had been waiting for a long time. We have repeatedly reported similar cases, yet the scale of the damage and destruction remains at a similar level.
And they add: – This saddens us doubly—not only as investors in this project, but also as users of the cycle path. A path that was meant to be a place to rest and provide an opportunity to spend free time actively. The vandals’ thoughtless actions mean that users of the routes now face broken bottles, torn-out signs and damaged benches. Clearing up and repairing this equipment means having to spend additional funds that could otherwise be used to equip the cycling route with more amenities.
There is an appeal
The local authorities:
Therefore, once again, we ask anyone who witnesses acts of vandalism to respond and notify the police. Let us remember that the “Łużyce–Bory” path is our shared asset.
We would add that vandalism can be punishable by between three months and as many as five years in prison.
