Netia must reimburse its customers for the costs of additional services that the operator activated without the customer’s explicit consent. This is a decision by the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, which conducted proceedings in the matter.

In a decision dated December 30 of last year, the President of UOKiK ruled that Netia was violating the collective interests of consumers because it was activating six additional services for customers without their explicit consent: – Bezpieczny Internet 2, – Bezpieczny Smartfon, – Identyfikacja Numeru, – Pakiet HBO HD, – GigaNagrywarka Standard, – GigaNagrywarka Maxi.

UOKiK obliged the operator to modify its sales procedures so that customers would be fully informed about the additional services and the charges for them. Customers must also be asked whether they agree to the activation of additional services. Netia must also reimburse expenses incurred by users whose additional services were activated without their consent.
