The incident occurred on February 16. “At around 2 p.m., two women knocked on the door of a 75-year-old woman from Jelenia Góra and offered bedding for sale,” reports deputy inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra.

She adds:

The victim let them inside. The women then engaged her in conversation, took advantage of her inattention and stole PLN 8,000, after which they disappeared.

Police officers:

We ask anyone with any information about the incident to contact the police on the emergency number 112.

Let us remember! Scammers exploit people’s trust in state institutions by posing as their employees or officers. They use various methods to achieve their goals. They not only call older people, but also send text messages with links to suspicious websites. Therefore, in everyday life, let us follow the principle of limited trust toward all people we do not know—both those who call us and those who knock on our doors.

Let us check carefully whether they really represent the institution whose employees they claim to be. The officers advise: “To do this, we can call the institution and describe the entire situation.”
