On Friday, 26 March, the training of subunits of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade came to an end. It was held at the Żagań-Świętoszów Land Forces Training Centre. The most important element was the “Hurricane 10” fire-control exercise.

The exercises allowed the soldiers to improve their practical skills. Squadron commanders conducted exercises in firing from concealed firing positions and direct fire.

The conclusion of this stage of field training coincided with the Brigade’s holiday. All targets hit, high marks for tactical and fire activities—this is how the firing subunits commemorated the unit’s holiday. The exercise results confirmed the high level of coordination among the Brigade staff and squadron staffs, as well as the training of the subunits.

At the field-training assembly, attended by a large group of artillerymen, former Brigade soldiers, local government authorities and commanders of units cooperating with the 23rd Artillery Brigade, the commander, Col. Jarosław Kraszewski, recalled the unit’s achievements and traditions. The assembly, attended by the Deputy Head of Land Forces Training, Brig. Gen. Stanisław Butlak, and Col. Henryk Harkot from the Rocket and Artillery Branch Headquarters, was also an opportunity to say farewell to soldiers who will serve as part of the 7th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Afghanistan.

The event concluded with a review of the sports and defence competition for students from classes with an extended defence-preparation curriculum in Bolesławiec, Zgorzelec, Rakowice, Lubań and Złotoryja. The competition was held jointly with the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Commando Company.
