In January, a Reader called us and informed us that there was a problem with pothole-ridden roads at the Przylesie housing estate in Bolesławiec. Residents of Sokola, Wilcza, Jastrzębia and Łowiecka streets had repeatedly appealed to City Hall to repair these roads.
The problem, the person who reported it emphasized during the conversation, is not only the potholes but also the huge amount of mud. All this makes it difficult for cars on the roads in question to perform such a simple maneuver as passing one another. (The Reader returns home driving at 8 km/h).
On January 24, the large potholes were filled, but, according to the person who reported the issue, the smaller ones were left untouched. The resident commented:
It’s a matter of two weeks, and I think it will be the same again.
Agnieszka Gergont, press spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall:
Grading of unpaved roads is planned for April–May, assuming weather conditions permit it. Carrying out the repair work using a grader and road roller is possible under favorable weather conditions.
She adds:
Grading the surfaces of roads covered with numerous puddles and mud contributes to worsening the problem of road passability (loosening areas with a hard surface and mixing them with rainwater leads to the formation of another layer of mud). Effective grading work can only be carried out once the unpaved road has dried.
