Bolesławiec police officers are asking grandchildren to talk to senior citizens about safety when visiting them on the occasion of Grandmother's and Grandfather's Day. KPP:

Older people need to be told about the dangers to which they are exposed.

Despite appeals, numerous prevention activities and media reports, scams involving criminals pretending to be police officers still occur. The day before yesterday, two senior women from Zgorzelec fell victim to criminals. The women were misled and handed their savings over to the scammers.

How can you avoid falling victim to criminals?

  • Senior citizens hear over the phone that their money is at risk and must be protected by cooperating with the services. Let us remember that police officers never demand that money be handed over. If we receive such a request, we can be certain that the callers are criminals.
  • The perpetrators use various methods and pretexts. Residents hear about failures in the water supply network and the need to check whether pipes are watertight, as well as about overpayments and the possibility of immediately recovering the money. The scammers claim to be employees of various institutions and companies.
  • DO NOT LET STRANGERS INTO YOUR HOMES!
  • DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO STRANGERS!
  • NOT EVERYONE WHO CALLS OR KNOCKS ON OUR DOOR HAS HONEST INTENTIONS!
