The incident took place on January 4, after 2 p.m., in Rudna (Lubin County). – As police officers working at the scene established, the driver of a Volkswagen passenger car, a 51-year-old resident of Lubin County, while leaving a property (reversing), failed to give way to an 87-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing a marked pedestrian crossing using crutches – reports Junior Inspector Wojciech Jabłoński from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – As a result of the injuries sustained, the senior woman was taken to hospital.
What is more, it came to light that the careless driver was drunk; he had more than 1.6 per mille of alcohol in his system. Interestingly, the 51-year-old admitted that he had been drinking alcohol, but immediately added that he had done so… the day before.
The driver’s licence was confiscated. The court will now decide the man’s fate. Officers:
