A man claiming to be a police officer called a 67-year-old resident of Szprotawa. – He informed the victim that his money was at risk and that he would be robbed in the near future – reports Senior Sergeant Arkadiusz Szlachetko, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Żagań.
Then he spun a tale for his victim: he assured the senior citizen that the police were closely monitoring his home. He also announced that one of the plainclothes officers would come to him to secure the money the senior kept at home, which would be returned after the operation was completed.
The result? The spokesperson says:
The man packed all his savings in Polish currency and euros and then handed them over to an unknown man. Unfortunately, he fell victim to fraud and lost more than PLN 56,000.
