The “For Merits to the National Defense” medal is a Polish military distinction awarded by the Minister of National Defense. It was established by the Sejm in 1966 and recognizes people whose work or activities have contributed to the development and strengthening of the country’s defense.
As municipal officials explain:
The gold medal is awarded to parents whose at least five children serve or have served honorably in active military service, or whose at least three children serve or have served in professional military service. The silver medal is awarded to parents whose three or four children serve or have served honorably in active military service.
In appreciation of the effort involved in raising their children in a patriotic spirit, the gold medal was received by Helena Karaban. Silver medals were awarded to: Aniela Matyjewicz, Feliksa Dudkiewicz, Stanisława Kopeć, Katarzyna Zioła, and Aniela Korniak.
The silver medal was also awarded to Krystyna and Bogdan Król, who collected the distinction on December 15.
