The Bolesławiec county hospital currently has 40 ventilator beds (7 in intensive care). That is more than before, but unfortunately still not enough.

On Monday, December 13, 25 patients were being treated on ventilators, all of them infected with the coronavirus. In theory, there are therefore still ventilator beds available here, but director Kamil Barczyk admits that he hopes this capacity will be expanded further.

There are, of course, also two reserved beds for hospital patients who have not contracted COVID-19: one in the Emergency Department and the other in a designated area of the surgical ward.

It sometimes appears on online forums that COVID patients are blocking beds for those who are not infected. Asked about such comments, the director says that the Bolesławiec ZOZ is currently focused on emergency treatment. He also says that the infrastructure is better; the modular hospital is operating. Patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 have been isolated from those who have not contracted the virus. Unlike before, wards such as pediatrics, surgery, gynecology and orthopedics have also not been closed.

He adds that the hospital procedures are working.
