The incident occurred a few days ago, during the night. “The duty officer at the Zgorzelec police station was notified of an incident in which a 35-year-old city resident had been stabbed. Police officers and a medical rescue team were dispatched to the scene. As a result of his injuries, the man was taken to hospital,” reports junior aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
But that was not the end of the matter. Sixty packets of marijuana and more than 120 portions of methamphetamine were found on the injured man. What is more, it came to light that the wounded man was a wanted criminal who had a prison sentence to serve.
Investigators determined that two men had broken into the 35-year-old’s apartment. One of them stabbed the victim in the back. The attackers then took PLN 2,000 from him and fled.
Spokeswoman:
Several hours later, officers from the Criminal Department of the Zgorzelec police station arrested one of those suspected of the robbery, a 23-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County. The officers seized a knife, money, more than 100 retail portions of marijuana and more than 20 portions of methamphetamine from him.
The second perpetrator was caught the following day—a 30-year-old from Zgorzelec County. He was also carrying drugs.
Both suspects were remanded in custody by the court for three months. Junior aspirant Aleksandra Pieprzycka adds:
Robbery using a dangerous instrument is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. However, the 23-year-old perpetrator had previously been convicted of crimes against property, for which he served more than a year in prison, so he could face up to 22 years and 6 months in prison.
