On Saturday, November 6, a protest under the slogan Not One More! was held in Bolesławiec, as in several dozen other Polish cities. The protests are a reaction to the death of 30-year-old Izabela from Pszczyna. The woman died on September 22, in the 22nd week of pregnancy. She was diagnosed with an absence of amniotic fluid, but doctors allegedly refrained from removing the fetus until the child’s heart stopped beating.

More than 120 people gathered in Bolesławiec’s market square.

The protesters honored the death of 30-year-old Izabela with a minute of silence. They then walked twice around Bolesławiec Town Hall in a silent march and lit candles.

According to tvn24.pl:

Last week, attorney Jolanta Budzowska described on social media the case of a 30-year-old pregnant woman who died in a hospital in Pszczyna because doctors allegedly waited for her fetus to die. She stated that this was a consequence of last year’s ruling by the Constitutional Tribunal headed by Julia Przyłębska concerning abortion.

In October 2020, the Constitutional Tribunal ruled that one of the three grounds for legal abortion was unconstitutional. This concerned the provision allowing abortion in cases where there was a high probability of severe and irreversible fetal impairment or an incurable illness threatening the fetus’s life.
