13 October 2021 at the “Orzeł” Cultural Integration Centre in Bolesławiec brought together employees of educational institutions, social assistance and social services, young people and parents, as well as people seeking support with psychological problems. The programme of Bolesławiec's World Mental Health Day celebrations included the following presentations:
- “Mental Health in an Unequal World” Szymon Trzebuniak (psychologist and psychotherapist);
- “Family Functioning During the COVID-19 Epidemic” Małgorzata Makowska (psychotherapist);
- “The Context of Individual Differences Among Children and Young People” Aleksandra Rzeźwicka (psychotherapist);
- “Addiction Psychotherapy – The Causes of Unequal Opportunities to Achieve Mental Health” Krzysztof Witkowski (expert and certified addiction psychotherapist, Lower Silesian Voivodeship Expert for Drugs and Drug Addiction).
The event organizers also provided so-called support rooms at the CiK “Orzeł”, offering the opportunity for an individual conversation with a psychologist or psychotherapist to discuss a problem, learn about ways to resolve it, and strengthen motivation to overcome difficulties. Consultations were also held at admission points on the premises of the Regional Hospital for the Nervously and Mentally Ill as part of the hospital’s “open days” initiative.
The event was organized by Community Self-Help Homes I and II in Bolesławiec, the Regional Hospital for the Nervously and Mentally Ill in Bolesławiec, and the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre. The celebrations were held under the patronage of the Mayor of Bolesławiec.
The celebrations included an exhibition of works created by participants of Bolesławiec support centres and wards of the Regional Hospital for the Nervously and Mentally Ill in Bolesławiec, as well as a performance by the CiK Orzeł Hallo Grupa, featuring a musical presentation by Lena Matyjewicz. The meeting was also an excellent opportunity to promote an information guide on publicly available mental-health crisis assistance in Bolesławiec for children, young people and adults.
World Mental Health Day was established in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health, which has operated since 1948. World Mental Health Day is supported by the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO currently estimates that mental disorders affect one in five people worldwide.
