KAS officers from Białystok and Wrocław stopped a truck on the Lower Silesian section of the A4 motorway. The officers’ findings indicated that the truck, travelling from one of the countries of Western Europe, might be transporting significant quantities of drugs.

An X-ray scan of the truck using a mobile scanner and a search involving Shila, a dog trained to detect drugs, revealed that one of the spare wheels contained 27 packages holding a total of 9 kg of dried plant material. An analysis conducted at the Customs Laboratory in Białystok showed that it was high-quality marijuana. The black-market value of the drugs seized was PLN 450,000.

As part of an investigation supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office for Wrocław Krzyki–Zachód, two people, including the truck driver, were detained and charged with bringing a significant quantity of narcotic drugs into Poland. This offence carries a prison sentence of no less than three years.

The District Court for Wrocław Krzyki ordered the suspects to be held in pre-trial detention for three months. The case is ongoing.
