On April 2, we reported on the number of people exceeding the limit in the church on Jana Pawła II Street in Bolesławiec. Regulations were in force at the time that did not allow such a large number of people in the church. This was related to the third wave of the coronavirus epidemic.
The police received the report on April 2. Six days later, evidence in the form of photographs and video footage showing the number of people entering and leaving the church arrived at the police station. The police officers also counted the worshippers on April 2.
Almost three months have passed since the incident, but the police still have not concluded the proceedings, and it is not even known what stage they are at. The case seems fairly straightforward. It is enough to divide the church’s floor area by the number of square metres per person permitted at the time to determine whether an offense was committed.
A few days ago, we asked Bolesławiec police why the proceedings were taking so long. We received no answer.
In several other similar cases in Poland, proceedings lasted no more than six days. They ended with fines. Examples:
