Training for uniformed classes covered by the Ministry of National Defence pilot programme included subjects in tactics, terrain orientation, general air defence, engineering and sapper training, communications, reconnaissance and firearms training. Every day, from reveille to lights-out, under the supervision of military instructors, the young people learned the intricacies of soldiers’ service at the training ground near the barracks and other training facilities of the Bolesławiec regiment.
The participation of teachers responsible for classes implementing the “military education” training programme provided an opportunity to exchange observations from the classes conducted so far and discuss future plans with the training coordinator from the 23rd Artillery Regiment, Major Jakub Wołyński.
The culmination of the camp and a summary of the second year of training was an examination consisting of a theoretical section and a practical skills test. During the latter, conducted in the form of a “tactical course”, the young people had to demonstrate, among other things, knowledge of the construction, disassembly and assembly of weapons, assuming firing positions, knowledge of elements of individual drill and first-aid skills. At successive checkpoints, students from the uniformed classes demonstrated their ability to use a compass, cross terrain in various ways and use flag signals.
The training camp was attended by students from the uniformed class of the General and Vocational Schools Complex named after Major Henryk Sucharski in Bolesławiec and the General Secondary School named after the Miners and Energy Workers of Turów in Zgorzelec.
