Outbreaks of infections with the Indian coronavirus variant have been confirmed near Warsaw and in Katowice. Minister Adam Niedzielski:
We have identified at least 16 new cases; two positive tests for the Indian variant were confirmed among family members of the Polish diplomat who was transported back to Poland

As a result, the government decided to tighten regulations for travelers arriving from areas affected by new coronavirus variants. “Those arriving in Poland from South Africa, India and Brazil will be placed under mandatory quarantine automatically,” the health minister announced.
The outbreak in Mazovia is linked to a retreat in Zambrów. The acting Chief Sanitary Inspector reported that a nun from India was among the retreat participants. In Katowice, 27 coronavirus infections were identified, four of which were confirmed to involve the Indian variant.
