The incident occurred yesterday before 3:00 p.m. in Lubin. The 5-year-old was out for a walk with his mother and grandfather. He quickly moved away from them. Riding a balance bike, the boy left the pavement and, emerging from between parked cars, entered the road directly in front of an oncoming vehicle driven by a 69-year-old man.
The driver had no chance to maneuver. The car struck the boy. The 5-year-old was taken to hospital, where he underwent detailed examinations. His life is not in danger.
Police officers from the investigations department are now handling the case. They will clarify the circumstances of the incident, including how the minor was being supervised.
We appeal to everyone caring for children to pay particular attention to them. Sometimes a moment of carelessness can lead to misfortune and have tragic consequences. It is very important to explain road safety rules to young children so that such extremely dangerous situations can be avoided in the future.
