The incident took place on April 18, at around 4 p.m. “The police received a report from a probation officer that her ward was most likely looking after her sons while drunk. Screams could be heard coming from the apartment, but no one was opening the door,” reports assistant inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra.
The police contacted the owner. The result? They managed to enter the apartment without using force. The spokeswoman:
The apartment was messy, and the smell of cigarette smoke was everywhere. A 32-year-old mother was lying on the bed with her sons, aged 2 and 4. The woman was smoking a cigarette, and cigarette butts were scattered everywhere. She was completely drunk. A breath alcohol test showed nearly 3‰ of alcohol in her system.
The children were handed over to their grandmother and aunt. The boys’ mother was taken to police custody. If it turns out that the 32-year-old woman posed a threat to the lives or health of her children, she could face a sentence of between three months and as many as five years in prison.
