The incident took place on Friday, April 16, at the 141st kilometre of the A4 motorway. “A very dangerous incident involving a drunk driver occurred. The man was driving a tractor-trailer carrying a load of timber logs. As police officers determined, at one point he lost control of the vehicle and struck the crash barriers, after which the truck left the roadway. As a result, timber spilled onto the road and shoulder,” reports Staff Aspirant Łukasz Dutkowiak of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

He adds:

Fortunately, other drivers travelling along the motorway managed to brake in time, and tragedy was avoided. However, the road was partially blocked for several hours, and the officers’ work involving the truck driver confirmed that he had more than 3 per mille of alcohol in his breath.

The driver, a 50-year-old resident of Łódź Voivodeship, was injured and taken to hospital. The extremely irresponsible man has already lost his driving licence. He now faces up to two years in prison.
