Health Minister Adam Niedzielski spoke, among other things, about the situation in hospitals during Wednesday's press conference. He announced that the restrictions currently in force would be extended for ANOTHER WEEK – until Sunday, April 25, inclusive.

What will change?

From Monday, April 19, kindergartens and nurseries will reopen.

From the same day, it will also be possible to engage in sports at outdoor sports facilities. Limit: 25 people.

What about the May holiday weekend?

As the head of the Ministry of Health announced, the restrictions concerning hotels and accommodation facilities will remain in force until May 3.

Hotels, nurseries and kindergartens, sports

We are extending the current safety rules until April 25, with the exception of hotels, which will remain closed until May 3, inclusive.

On April 19, we are opening nurseries and kindergartens to all children. We are also allowing children and young people to participate in sports competitions conducted by the relevant Polish sports association. From next Monday, it will also be possible to engage in sports at outdoor sports facilities, subject to a limit of 25 people.

  • Hotels – accommodation facilities will remain closed until May 3, inclusive. Exceptions include workers' hotels, as well as accommodation provided as part of certain business trips – for example, for medical professionals, drivers performing road transport, or soldiers. The exact list of exceptions, together with the required confirmation of a business trip, will be included in the regulation.
  • Nurseries and kindergartens – open from April 19 for all children.
  • Sports – the operation of sports facilities remains limited exclusively to professional sports. All events may take place without spectators. Gyms, fitness clubs, ski slopes, swimming pools, saunas and tanning salons, among others, remain closed. From April 19, we are allowing children and young people to participate in sports competitions conducted by the relevant Polish sports association. We are also allowing sports at outdoor sports facilities – with a limit of up to 25 people.

Other safety rules – unchanged. We are extending the existing restrictions until Sunday, April 25, 2021.

Retail – restrictions

Large furniture and DIY stores with an area exceeding 2,000 sq m will remain closed.

Shopping centres and malls – as currently – remain closed, except for, among others: grocery stores, pharmacies and drugstores, newsstands and bookshops.

At retail outlets, markets and post offices limits on the number of people apply:

  • 1 person per 15 sq m – in stores up to 100 sq m,
  • 1 person per 20 sq m – in stores exceeding 100 sq m.

Religious worship – a limit on the number of people applies in places of worship: there must be 20 sq m per person. The obligation to cover the mouth and nose and to maintain a distance of 1.5 m from other people remains unchanged.

Hairdressing and beauty salons – remain closed.

Education – students in all grades of primary and secondary schools, learners at continuing education institutions and students at vocational education centres are studying remotely.

Culture – theatres, cinemas, museums and art galleries remain closed.
