Bolesławiec City Hall:

The Mayor of Bolesławiec grants awards in the fields of culture, social activity and other activities at the request of authorised entities, after consulting the Education, Culture and Sport Committee of the Bolesławiec City Council. The awards are commemorated with a statuette, and the winners also receive a financial reward.

CULTURE

  • Zofia Tarasiewicz is a folk singer and promoter of the heritage, customs, visual arts and culinary traditions of the Czadecki highlanders. Her artistic achievements are exceptionally rich. The singer’s repertoire includes conscription songs, orphan songs, courtship songs and ballads. Over many years of her career, she performed at Polish and international folk music festivals, earning recognition from audiences and juries. In 2020, Zofia Tarasiewicz was honoured by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport with the Oskar Kolberg Award, granted for outstanding contributions to folk culture. Documentation of Ms Tarasiewicz’s songs is held in the archives of the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw and the Karkonosze Museum in Jelenia Góra. Some of her songs were published in the “Muzyka Źródeł” phonographic series of Polish Radio’s Channel II. Zofia Tarasiewicz’s Bukovina Easter eggs are held in the collections of the Karkonosze Museum in Jelenia Góra and the Schlesisch-Oberlausitzer Dorfmuseum in Markersdorf, Germany.
  • The “Camera” Photographic Association celebrated the 10th anniversary of its activity in 2020. It currently brings together around 50 photography enthusiasts. The association’s main aim is to promote photography as an art form, popularise knowledge about photography, develop skills and inspire its members and other interested people to engage in creative activities. In 2020, the association, together with Bolesławiec cultural institutions, organised a series of monthly photography competitions and presented an exhibition to mark its 10th anniversary. Association members won top prizes in national and international photography competitions. The association works to foster integration and cultural rapprochement between Poland and other European Union countries by carrying out initiatives with partners from the Czech Republic and Germany. It is also involved in activities aimed at providing photographic education for children and young people.

SOCIAL INITIATIVES

  • Kamil Barczyk has served as director of the Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej in Bolesławiec since June 2019. Following the outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic, the Zespół Opieki Zdrowotnej in Bolesławiec was designated as a dedicated infectious disease hospital. Thanks to his creativity and innovative management techniques, the Bolesławiec hospital became one of the few facilities in Poland to comprehensively provide medical services related to the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. The hospital was continuously modernised, equipped with the necessary diagnostic devices and expanded its range of medical services. Kamil Barczyk’s efforts were noticed and appreciated throughout the country through numerous live reports from Bolesławiec and interviews with the director in nationwide media. The director’s strategic actions contribute to increasing the health security of Bolesławiec and the region’s residents and have a positive impact on the city’s image.
  • Roman Bodak has been involved in the Honorary Blood Donors movement since 1967. For several decades, he held various positions in the Honorary Blood Donors movement, including on the National Council of Honorary Blood Donors. Over the past 40 years, the Honorary Blood Donors Club has collected 52,000 litres of blood. Roman Bodak has received numerous distinctions for his social activities. He maintains regular contact with Honorary Blood Donors Clubs throughout Poland. In 2020, he organised five blood donation drives to fight the coronavirus in cooperation with the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters, as well as a blood donation drive during the 28th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. He organised the “Women’s Day” event for female honorary blood donors in March 2020, as well as the 20th anniversary edition of the “Czerwona Róża” Rally.
  • Ewa Słonina served as head of the I Środowiskowy Dom Samopomocy in Bolesławiec for the last 24 years. Thanks to her commitment and support, members of the centre’s community benefit from cultural opportunities, integrate with the local community, function better in their own homes and regain a sense of dignity and self-worth. Ms Ewa Słonina initiated Bolesławiec’s observances of World Mental Health Day, held in the city for many years and attended by distinguished mental health specialists from Poland and abroad. The theme of the observances is designated each year by the World Health Organization.

OTHER

  • Tomasz Rola is the author of the documentary film “Bez znieczulenia”, portraying the world of international motorcycle racing. It was broadcast on nationwide television channel Motowizja and premiered in 2020. He is also the originator and co-organiser of the BIEG GOLEMA obstacle race held in 2020, whose defining element is clay, referring to Bolesławiec’s ceramic traditions. Tomasz Rola also originated and coordinated the “Wszyscy jesteśmy z tej samej gliny” project carried out in 2020 and funded by the National Centre for Culture as part of the “Kultura w sieci” programme.
