Gmina Warta Bolesławiecka:

Members of hunting associations operating in these areas confirm, based on observations made in the field, that wolves inhabit our gmina and neighboring gminas.

The local government adds:

With our own safety in mind, we should avoid actions that may lead to dangerous encounters with wolves. Therefore, do not let dogs that are periodically kept tethered leave your property or the built-up area of the village, as wolves may follow the tracks left by a dog in a field or forest, find it and kill it on your property, treating the dog as a competitor in their hunting grounds.

Do not take your dog for walks in the forest or its vicinity. During walks, keep your dog close, as a dog running loose, sniffing animal tracks and moving away from its owner, may encounter wolves. Properly secure waste containers against access by wild animals, as wolves may also search there for food, attracted by the smell of the accumulated waste.

Officials emphasize:

The wolf is a predator that is generally afraid of people and avoids contact with them; however, under certain special circumstances, it may be dangerous to people. We should therefore exercise particular caution when entering and staying in forested areas. If we encounter wolves, as in the case of encountering other wild animals, we should calmly and slowly retreat to a safe distance.
