There was an incident on Monday, at around 2:30 p.m., on Słoneczna Street in Kunice. Officers of the Traffic Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica received a report about a young roe deer that was running near a busy road.

The situation was dangerous not only for the animal, but also for drivers. The frightened fawn was moving near the road, and the heat was an additional danger – temperatures were nearing 40 degrees.

After arriving at the scene, the officers quickly found the animal. According to the services, the fawn was clearly disoriented and weakened by the high temperature. The police officers first gave it water and then moved it to the police car, where it could rest in the shade and regain its composure.

The officers then contacted a veterinarian, who took over the animal and provided it with further care.

This is another intervention showing that police service is not limited solely to activities related to road traffic. Officers also respond when the life or health of animals is at risk.

The services remind people that if they spot an injured, lost or frightened animal near a road, they should first ensure their own safety. It is best to notify the appropriate services, provide the exact location and avoid taking actions that could lead to a dangerous situation.
