Wrocław criminal investigators, working with officers from Łódź and the Wrocław Municipal Police Headquarters, arrested a 30-year-old man from Silesia suspected of fraud. “According to the findings made by police officers, the man collected PLN 40,000 and gold jewelry worth PLN 15,000 from a woman living in Wrocław. The woman believed that she was taking part in a police operation,” explains Assistant Commissioner Wojciech Jabłoński of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

He adds: “It turned out that an unidentified person had previously contacted the victim by telephone, impersonated a police officer, deliberately misled her by informing her about an operation being conducted by the Police, and instructed the woman to hand over valuables and cash.”

The court remanded the 30-year-old in temporary custody for three months. The suspect faces a sentence of between six months and as many as eight years in prison.

Officers:

Police officers once again appeal to the public and remind everyone that they NEVER ask for money of any kind or for funds to be paid into specific accounts. Officers NEVER collect valuables and do not demand that anyone incur financial obligations, such as loans or credits.

If someone demands that we take such actions, they are a SCAMMER! In such a case, immediately notify the Police by calling the emergency number 112.
