Volunteer firefighters from Nowogrodziec reported on the incident:
[…] while responding to an incident on Asnyka Street involving a diesel fuel leak from a passenger car, the siren sounded at 1:15 p.m.A mechanical ladder was dispatched to Pieńsk (Zgorzelec County) for a fire in a multi-family residential building. Numerous units and resources from Zgorzelec County were at the scene. The attic caught fire.
The firefighters added:
Our role was to assist the units already working at the scene. After about an hour, the fire was brought under control, and we were able to return to base. Local crews remained at the scene to dismantle scorched roof elements and extinguish the remaining pockets of fire.
