City Hall officials:
The ceremonial farewell for the facility's head took place on Friday. It was a moment filled with emotion, memories and words of thanks. Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman warmly thanked her for her very good and active service to the city's residents. He also expressed his respect and appreciation for her exemplary attitude and commitment to creating a welcoming Home that gives its residents the chance to live with dignity in a family and social environment.
Ewa Słonina had headed the facility since 1997 and was one of its co-founders. (Previously, she worked at the Regional Hospital for the Nervously and Mentally Ill.) The I Community Self-Help Centre in Bolesławiec was the first support centre of its kind in the former Jelenia Góra Voivodeship. Since then, more than 150 people with disabilities resulting from mental health conditions have used the facility's services.
It is worth noting that the facility has 30 places. The I CSHC employs qualified staff trained to work with people experiencing mental disorders. The Home provides opportunities for residents to improve their functioning in everyday life, acquire interpersonal skills and solve problems, as well as to enjoy recreation, games, shared celebrations and trips to places of interest.
Together with the I CSHC staff, Ewa Słonina made it possible for the residents – despite their illness and the limitations associated with it – to influence their own lives so that they could be active, independent and fulfilling.
Officials add:
As of 23 February 2021, it was decided to entrust the management of the I Community Self-Help Centre to Wioleta Ziembikiewicz-Konefał – a master's graduate in pedagogy who had been employed at the unit as a therapist since 1998.
