Jeleniogórscy police officers detained a 26-year-old man with no fixed address, suspected of robbery theft and property damage. “As officers established, the incident took place in July last year at one of the drugstores in Jelenia Góra. The man took advantage of the employees’ momentary inattention and then stole perfume, which he hid in a backpack. Its value was estimated at PLN 600,” reports Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra.

She adds: “The theft was noticed by a sales assistant, who asked a security guard to intervene and locked the door. A struggle broke out between the security guard and the 26-year-old, during which the assailant pushed him away and escaped through the glass door, smashing its pane. The damage caused to the property was estimated at more than PLN 800.”

After being notified of the incident, police officers began searching for the man. His identity was established after an analysis of surveillance-camera footage. Officers are now investigating all the circumstances of the case in detail.

The 26-year-old could now face a sentence of between one and as many as ten years in prison. The prosecutor placed the suspect under police supervision.
