The incident occurred on Friday, January 29. Volunteer firefighters from TrzebieńVolunteer firefighters from Trzebień:
[…] at 4:47 p.m., we were dispatched to a cat trapped in the engine compartment of one of the passenger cars parked in a residential parking lot on Leśna Street in Trzebień. Upon arriving at the scene, the report was confirmed. After the engine was started, the animal’s paws were pulled into the alternator belt and became lodged between the rollers.
The firefighters added:
We immediately began dismantling parts of the vehicle in order to gain access to the cat. A veterinarian was also called to the scene. The advice provided to our crew by our colleague Mariusz Kwaśniewski (Pomoc Drogowa Speed-Trans), who arrived at the scene in his private vehicle together with other firefighters, was invaluable.
The cat, later named Klinka, was freed after approximately two hours. Following the veterinarian’s intervention, she was handed over to a representative of Głos Zwierząt.
The cat was taken to the operating table, where she spent more than four hours. Her condition is stable, but she will probably be disabled for the rest of her life. Głos Zwierząt:
Dear friends, we have an appeal to make. Before you get into your car, before starting the engine, tap on the bodywork, knock on the hood with your hand, make some noise and look under the hood. You may save a cat’s life.
