The results of this year’s competition were announced on November 28. The Best Vocational Teacher statuette was awarded to Bolesław Buryło, owner of a masonry business in Bolesławiec. “I didn’t expect to win,” the winner said. “I have been teaching the trade for more than twenty years. I try to do it as well as possible and maintain good contact with young people.”
Second place went to Wioletta Sobko-Złotek (hairdressing), while Edmund Ostrowski came third. He trains students in the following occupations: finishing works technician, bricklayer, and installer of sanitary systems and equipment.
Nearly 300 entrepreneurs in Bolesławiec County offer vocational placements for young people. The best vocational teachers were nominated by the principals of the Complex of Building Schools, the Complex of Commercial and Service Schools, and the Complex of Mechanical Schools. The heads of the educational institutions took into account, among other things, working conditions, pay, and the atmosphere at the workplace.
The competition committee, comprising representatives of the County Office and the Guild of Crafts and Small Entrepreneurship, selected three winners from among the 12 nominees. “The aim of the competition is to popularize crafts and show that a master craftsperson is a wonderful teacher,” said County Governor Cezary Przybylski.
