The incident occurred in the evening at one of the fuel stations in Złotoryja. According to the employee’s report, the driver of a Citroën passenger car filled up with fuel and drove away. The entire incident was recorded by surveillance cameras. After receiving information about the incident, police immediately began searching for the perpetrator of the theft.
The man was arrested moments later in the Zagrodno municipality. It was there that community police officers spotted the car described in the report. A 37-year-old Bolesławiec resident was behind the wheel. The man tried to avoid responsibility by giving officers false information. Ultimately, he admitted to stealing the fuel.
It also turned out that this was not his only offense. The man got behind the wheel without the required authorization. In doing so, he disregarded a court driving ban and the starosta’s decision to revoke his driving privileges. The car he was driving was impounded in the police parking lot, and the man will answer for his actions before the court. Under the law, he faces up to five years in prison.
