The District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica is conducting an investigation into the founder of the Legnica School of Management Wacław D. and the rector of the institution, Bazyle N. Both suspects are accused of causing at least several dozen people to “make an unfavorable disposition of property” between 2016 and 2018. The amounts ranged from PLN 3,150 to PLN 12,500. As the prosecutor’s office explains, the suspects offered those affected the opportunity to study and obtain diplomas, concealing the fact that the ministry… had revoked their permission to establish the university.

Investigators also charged D. with thwarting—as the WSM liquidator—the “satisfaction of claims pursued by the Minister of Science and Higher Education.” The amount was PLN 1,249,400, which, according to the prosecutor’s findings, Wacław D. concealed in other people’s bank accounts.

The investigation was suspended at the end of December. The reason? Wacław D.’s health. The suspect’s health is to be reassessed in the second quarter of 2021.

Will those affected recover their money?

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica has taken steps to secure assets belonging to the university. For now, however, investigators are not providing details.

At least several dozen people were affected in the entire case. Ukrainian citizens are also among them.

Both suspects could face between three months and as many as five years in prison.
