The incident took place on December 16. “Just before 6 a.m., officers from the Lwówek Śląski District Police Headquarters received a report from a security guard at one of the stores that an unknown man was on the premises. The store was still closed,” reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta of the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
She adds:
When officers arrived at the scene, it turned out that a 34-year-old resident of Lwówek Śląski had taken advantage of the store employees’ moment of inattention and, late the previous evening, entered the store’s back room, where he fell asleep.
When he woke up, he felt hungry; he decided to enter the store floor to get something to eat. The alarms then went off, and the man was detained by the store’s security guard.
As it turned out, the 34-year-old was carrying a small ziplock bag containing marijuana. The man could now face up to three years in prison.
