Asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin:

Preventive police officers stopped another irresponsible driver who was driving under the influence of drugs. The man was detained in the Przylesie district of Lubin shortly before midnight.

The spokesperson adds:

The driver was behaving nervously, arousing the officers’ suspicion that he might be under the influence of intoxicants. A drug test confirmed the patrol’s suspicions. Blood was also taken from the man for laboratory testing and confirmation of the test result.

The 45-year-old was taken into police custody. His driving licence was also confiscated. It turned out that the man had numerous traffic offences and crimes on his record, including… driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Officers found methamphetamine on the 32-year-old female passenger. Further portions of the drug were discovered at the suspect’s home. The woman was also placed in a police cell. She will answer for her actions in court.

We remind you that driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated or under the influence of intoxicants is punishable by up to two years in prison.

In addition, the court must impose a ban on driving all vehicles or vehicles of a specified type for up to three years and order a monetary payment to the Fund for Assistance to Victims and Post-Penitentiary Assistance of at least PLN 5,000.
